TMW Operatives and fans,

If you are receiving this correspondence, you are either a bonafide Team MeatWeapon or we think you are worthy. TMW began in 2009 with two guys around a dining room table after an afternoon of trail riding, target practice, and steak grilling. It has grown into a national (members in TX, UT, and CO presently) phenomenon. We are a TEAM. There is no TEAM without M E A or T. You never have to race to be a TMW. Honestly, we build more trail than we will ever race on. Any other team affilliations you may have will not interfere with your TMWness. The Calavera at the Ranch is a 24-hour mountain biking festival held at the beautiful Reveille Peak Ranch on Halloween weekend. The event will contain a race for our competitive riders and a Just-for-Fun ride for the mountain bikers who want to have a good time.

When: Sunday September 25th

The Reveille Peak 100K Mountain Bike Race will test your grit while helping to raise money for the newly formed Texas High School Mountain Bike League! The total distance is 62 miles, and the course covers a mix of double and single track over a variety of dirt trail, granite outcroppings and dry creek beds.

Dear Trail User,

The anti-bike sentiments that some members of Congress have expressed in recent weeks are cause for grave concern. I hope you'll join IMBA and other cycling groups in standing up for biking and walking programs.

Please take a few minutes today to speak out in favor of the bike-friendly federal Transporatation Enhancements (TE) program. It only takes a few minutes to record your support with a web form provided by our friends at Safe Routes to Schools.

We encourage you to explore our website extensively but also urge you to overcome any fear of commitment and become an official member. As a member you’ll receive expanded access to website features, reimbursement of day use/entry fees at monthly club rides and other benefits.

If you are new to riding or to the Austin area, ARR is a great place to make new friends and gain a sense of belonging to the community. We don’t just ride. We love to eat, camp, swim, paddle and socialize. Mountain biking is part of a healthy lifestyle so we are happy to help motivated each other, provide moral support and even push someone off the couch is needed. And if you are an experienced rider, know all the area trails and have dozens of riding buddies, you can still support the only cycling club in Austin that actively builds and maintains area trail with a membership and participation in trail work events

We won't deny that there is immense pleasure to be found in solitary rides or riding with a few good buddies. It is, in fact, how most of us get started. But in addition to there being safety in numbers on the trail, riding with more experienced riders makes you a better rider, sooner

These are words that ARR believes and we strive to demonstrate this belief by giving back though trail maintenance and advocacy efforts and we are proud to be associated with the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and their efforts towards greater trail access.

We do this for our love of riding and because we want to help keep trails open and to see new trails built. Not just for ourselves but for all trail users, this generation and the next. We are strong supporters of the IMBA rules of the trail and encourage every trail user to know and follow these rules which are available on this website and at www.imba.com.

Be a responsible rider, respect the trail and fellow trail users and support organizations that work to preserve access and development of trails everywhere.
