2011 Jingle Bell Ride
With 30 participants, ARR Board Treasurer Cindy W. led the group on an 8 mile tour of the beautiful neighborhoods of Northwest Balcones. Upon return to the park, hot chocolate and treats were enjoyed by all and the annual White Elephant Gift Exchange once again brought lots of laughs. The nasty can of something or other made an appearnce for the 3rd year in a row. Thanks for every who attended and this is another example of why someone else should take a camera. My photos are pretty bad!
The photo of Adam Baylor's bike truly does not do it justice. The lights on his bike were really bright and pretty.
With 30 cyclists with headlights and red blinkies, we were quite a sight to see. Drivers were courteous and patient and it was nice that so many people came out of their house to wish us Merry Christmas and watch us ride by. In addition to the pretty lights I was especially pleased when a pickup truck loaded with 8-9 little kids in the bed (not safe, I know) drove by and squealed in delight to see so many bikes. Karen and Lee suffered one minor mechanical issue on an incline but Lee muscled the chain back into place and they were off.
As usual, I was near the end and as we approached the rest of the group waiting patiently at stops Randy invented "We're here, we're here..but we've only got one gear".
