UPDATE January 31st - There are still a few spaces left for the upcoming Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visit in February. Please remember that if you are interested in attending the Better Living Through Trails, the Thursday evening social event or the Sunday Ride, you do NOT need to register.

Registration is necessary for the Trail Building School scheduled Saturday, February 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and only those who have attended the class will be participating in the Trail Building Project.

The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Trail Building School is primarily designed for those who regularly attend trail days and are interested in learning more about sustainable trail building and more advanced aspects of trail stewardship.

All are welcomed to attend the Thursday Social event and the Sunday Social Ride at Walnut Creek. If you are interested in attending the Better Living Through Trails Presentation on Friday or know of land managers who would benefit from the presentation, please email Judi Ronkartz at jrgump@austin.rr.com as there is a capacity limit at Terrazas Library.

Do you love riding Walnut Creek? Does riding the high line on the big berm wall before heading across the creek towards the parking lot make you glad to be alive? Do the improvements on the rock bridge crossing warm your heart? Here’s your chance to show Walnut Creek some love and appreciation. Learn about trail building and how to make a trail sustainable as well as what trail projects might be in Central Texas’ future.

The Subaru/IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Trail Care Crew will join the Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club and the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department in February and host a Trail Building School at Walnut Creek Metro. Walnut Creek was selected because of its immense popularity and because the heavy use this trail gets provides lots and lots of examples as to what makes a good trail, what “trail creep” and cheater lines are and how erosion and drainage factor into the big picture.

The Trail Care Crew will teach "sustainable" trail building principles, which means building lasting trails that require minimal maintenance. Class participants will learn to apply those techniques in the afternoon field session. Everyone is invited to attend the weekend's events. Participants must register – www.imba.com/tcc/schedule    Limit is 50 participants - It is free.
