Friends of the Sunday All-Level Ride at Walnut Creek

You do NOT have to be an ARR member to attend most club rides. You will need to sign a waiver and wear a helmet when riding.

This is for all levels of riders, which will break into groups according to ability. Beginners are welcome, and there will be no drops. Meet in the parking lot by the swimming pool. The route will make it easy for anyone to get back to the parking lot via the freeways. Helmets are required along with a bike in good working order.

This Sunday Ride will be canceled if trail conditions are wet.

Riders will break into groups based on skill level. New riders can receive skills instruction and experienced riders can just hammer out some miles. Michael McMurtray and Michael Wisbauer are the regular rider leaders. This is a great way to learn your way around Walnut Creek.

Trail Description:The main trailhead is near the first parking area on the left, near the swimming pool. This 12+ mile network of trails is over 90% twisty singletrack, with a few jumps, downhills, and creek crossings thrown in. This is a work-in-progress with many new sections added. If you ride here check out anything that looks new, because it's all pretty sweet, thanks largely to the efforts of one guy, Mark Henneke, who has single-handedly built and cleaned up a lot of these trails. At first the trails seem like a maze with no flow, but after riding them a couple of times you find the loops and it's possible to do about 12 miles of continuous trail. Be careful until you learn the trails, as there are 2 or 3 places where unrideable dips can sneak up on you. To learn the trail, come out to one of the regularly occurring ARR rides at the park.

Directions: From I-35 exit Parmer and head west. The first stoplight is Lamar, go south and turn in on the right just past the Vietnamese temple at Yager. Park is clearly marked. From MoPac exit Parmer and head east. About 1/4 mile before Lamar, take a right on Willow Wild and follow that into the park.

Fee: No Fee for this public access trail.

Ride Responsibly Flyer

It should be important to every rider to respect the trails we ride. This is your first step to helping to preserve sustainable trails.

 PLEASE RIDE RESPONSIBLY

DO YOUR PART TO KEEP SINGLE TRACK SINGLE!

Always go over obstacles, not around them. Riding over obstacles is what makes mountain biking fun and what the bike is designed to do. Going around leads to trail widening..
