Ride Like a Girl
The concept is simple: the “girls” meet at local bike trails for group rides and mountain biking skills instruction. Riders break into small groups based on ability and then hit the trail Post ride, the ladies regroup for a raffle of prizes donated by local bike shops and a growing number of manufacturers.
Instruction is provided on everything from riding safety to trail etiquette, bike maintenance to first aid. Ride Like A Girl grows in popularity each year and we are excited as the kick-off to our 213 season approaches. This is the start of our second decade and we look forward to reconnecting with past participants and introducing a new group of women to the awesome sport of mountain biking.
The initial ride draws up to 75 ladies and rides throughout the season draw from 30 to 60 participants. Every year, ride leaders are approached by male riders wanting to know how they can join Ride Like A Girl. Some have even offered to wear a wig and a skirt and we consider this evidence of the quality of instruction, excellent ride organization and overall fun! In 2008, organizers expanded the program to include several Saturday Rides held in conjunction with the Austin Ridge Riders for fun, co-ed rides. In support of trail stewardship, we have added trail work days to our program.
We are excited about your interest and know that you will love participating in our events!
Bikes, babes and brews....deal with it!
