Everyone’s talking about the new mountain biking trails at Reveille Peak Ranch, miles of rugged single-track and twisty downhill trails cutting across the exposed granite of the Llano Uplift.
Designed by the Austin Ridge Riders and completed in 2010, the single-track and super downhill trails offer an experience like no other. From the top of the hills, you can see Lake Buchanan and beyond. Below, paths flow through oaks and grassy savanna.
Hill Abel, owner of Bicycle Sport Shop and a past president of the International Mountain Biking Association, calls the ranch a fantastic addition to the local riding scene. “Reveille Peak is so different from most of our typical riding areas mainly because there is no limestone. It’s all granite, so you have much better traction, and it makes for some really technical riding.”
Reveille Peak Ranch is also in the process of having a professionally designed, elevated pump track designed and installed. Using the head to head style track from Whistler Mountain Bike Park, the DirtWRX Build Team will be guiding over 360 cubic yards of dirt and manipulating it into the sickest track in all of Texas!
What is a Pump Track? Stemming from BMX roots, pump tracks are one of the more unique riding platforms. Built of out rollers and berms, a pump track allows a rider to maximize gravity, momentum and core strength to propel him/her around a track with no pedaling (hence the word “pump”). The experience is skill building and exhausting at the same time!
