| ARR VP Cullen McMorrow was a guest presenter on a recent American Trails webcast alongside Jake Carsten, who is a professional trail consultant and former IMBA employee and project manager for Rock Solid Trails. The topic was "Natural Surface Trails as Transportation." |

When transportation planners design "urban trails" (typically concrete or decomposed granite) through greenways, there are great benefits to planning for multiple different types of recreational use in the corridor. The standard concept of "multi-use trail" is that it literally appeals to all users, and they all share the same space.
Cullen and Jake discussed the concept of planning for a combination of natural surface singletrack and urban trails in a shared corridor, with bike park facilities as connected destinations. There were 586 registered attendees to the webinar, and American Trails members can watch a recording of it here.

Travis County Parks Survey |
|
|
The third and final round of public engagement for the Travis County Parks Comprehensive Plan is underway and we are asking you to take a moment to provide feedback in support of MTB facilities! We shared round two back in May, noting that Pace Bend is a great spot for things like… Professionally designed/built MTB jumps, drops, flow trail, skills park features Hard surface pump track near campsites and the lake Think along the lines of Angel Fire Bike Park in New Mexico, Valmont Bike Park in Colorado, and of course Slaughter Pen/Coler Preserve in Arkansas.
The survey is live through October 23rd, and asks you to rank recommendations for all Travis County Parks, and provide input on design concepts for Pace Bend.
Open House events: Oct 11th 10 am -12 pm at Bob Wentz Park Oct 11th 2-4 pm at Mansfield Dam Park Oct 18th 10 am - 12 pm at Northeast Metro Park Oct 18th 2-4 pm at Richard Moya Park
